I'm interested to see what your take on the character after the DLC is.

So, assuming that Ubisoft hasn't completely abandonned this storyline, what's the sequel going to be like? The Prince finally re-inspires hope and faith in Elika? Because according to the Book of Difficult Women (as adhered to by myself), that's grounds for a kiss and living happily ever after.

agreed. i hate seeing all the hate everywhere for the new prince/game. i mean, most of it doesn't really seem to be focused on the gameplay part of it, it was more of the character and how people didn't like the prince at all or elika. (or the ending for that matter.)
this is a great defense article...thing. great job. *thumbsup*

I can respect that, I really wanted more dialog between them (I was upset that there were only two full conversations), but most importantly I wanted there to be just one moment of tenderness between them.

We almost got that with the denied kiss just before the final boss, but I wanted just a touch more.

But then, wanting just a touch more is exactly why I was excited about reviving Elika. For me, they accomplished their mission, I guess.

I do see your point, and I like the idea of the Prince realizing who he is more than your initial suggestion that he was actually dynamic. But the final moments of the game ask a tremendous amount of the player. The game has to earn that sacrifice, and I don't feel like the relationship between the Prince and Elika, or the character of the Prince himself, were developed well enough to do that.

Agreed, the facial animation was nothing to write home about. It was competent at best in the cutscenes and absolutely zombie-riffic (i.e. nonexistant) in gameplay.

No matter how grand they tried to make that end sequence, scrolling around to view his face was game changing, the prince showed no change in expression whatsoever.
