Is my band the only one that never gets any real challengers in the Band Challenges in Rock Band 2? I don’t understand how bands that can only be failing out of songs are allowed to post scores for these challenges.
How else are we to explain bands challenging us with a score of 1,400 points for a song? It’s not so much a challenge as it is stealing candy from babies. Am I missing something? Is this the easiest way for people to make money is to take challenges and then fail out of them? Why do they go on to the next song if they’re failing out in the first 10 notes? They’d literally have to be playing on expert and intentionally not play and strum wrong notes to fail out that fast.
Pretty meh Rock Band night. Finally nailed the 100% on Expert Guitar achievement, two songs in a row, only to be denied the achievement award, both songs in a row.

If you are talking about Battle of the Bands mode, then I had the same problem with this at first. Someone gave me an explanation for it, but I haven’t really put forth any effort to see if they were right or not.
Apparently for those challenges scores are chosen by the game based your spot on the leaderboards. Supposedly it uses scores from your friends list first, and if none of them have completed the challenge then it goes to the overall boards and puts you up against the person that is right above you.
Now, I haven’t confirmed any of this; so, it may be worth investigating. This theory would explain ridiculously low challenge scores when you are on your first attempt (if you have no friends like me :P), but it still doesn’t explain how in the world people manage to get scores that low…That, my friend, is out of my mental grasp…

Still haven’t used the Battle of the Bands mode, in fact overall I am probably a pretty pathetic Rock Band player, don’t do much with it online. So I have nothing constructive to add to this, I just wanted to spout off.
Mainly I’ve always liked Rock Band and its sequel most as a party game, so once again either Friday or Saturday we are putting the band back together. Beer and booze will be involved and I will be doing my best “fat and gone to seed” Roger Daltry impression.

From what I can tell, it gives you a score to beat that’s based on your current placement on the leaderboards. I think it may even use the leaderboard for your current song or perhaps for your band overall. 9 times out of 10, I’m pit up against some dude named “You Can’t Beat This Score”, who I’ve surmised has tried to make a name for himself gaming this system and scoring as low a possible score as you can so that his name and score comes up for as many people as possible.
Really for their design, if they didn’t want someone gaming it, it shouldn’t select the one absolutely lowest person on the leaderboard if you haven’t placed yet. It should select a person’s score at random that’s in the bottom 1 percentile.
