I know it’s not game music specifically, and that it’s really nothing more than a collection of licensed music, but I’ve been trying desperately (albeit legally) to get my hands on the Project Gotham 4 soundtrack. There’s a Prodigy track on there (Shadow, I think it’s called) that I’m looking for, but can’t seem to find anywhere purchase-able in single track form. I’ve already got a few game soundtracks on the iPod, such as
- Katamari Damaci
- Jet Set Radio Future
- Mortal Kombat (okay it’s really that ultra rare Immortals album you could buy from the original arcade)
- Metal Arms (pulled it because the dialog samples from the game were annoying and mixed way too loud)
Since I don’t see a lot of movies or TV shows much anymore, games are pretty much my only exposure to music. Stuntman got me hooked on Overseer before I’d heard it anywhere else, and hell, I just bought a Flyleaf track off of iTunes after playing it in Rock Band.
So I wonder if there’s an additional revenue stream for the games/music industry to be had here. Does anyone else listen to/buy game music? Would you want to have access to it on services like iTunes?
